As soon as TikTok was Banned, Instagram Introduced a New App, Now Reel Makers had Fun
By Preeti Soni• Jan 20, 2025

Instagram has released a major update to its Reels feature. Now users can upload videos up to 3 minutes. Earlier this limit was 90 seconds, which has been increased to double. Its purpose is to give creators more space for creative expression. This is Instagram's biggest update. Instagram head Adam Mosseri informed about this update through reel. He said, 'We have received a lot of feedback from creators, in which they said that 90 seconds is too short a time. We hope that increasing the limit to three minutes will help you share your real stories.'
According to Mosseri, the Edits app is not just a video editing app. It is a complete set of tools designed to make creating and sharing videos easy and intuitive. The app includes a dedicated inspiration tab, a place for initial ideas, and all editing tools. It also has a high-quality camera, which Moseri himself used to film his announcement video.
Now that long videos can be created on reels, many new options have opened up for creators. Now they can create long tutorials, full songs, long travel diaries and very funny and long stories on reels.
Instagram is constantly improving its reel feature. Some features like TikTok have also been added to it, but it also has its own identity. After this new update, reels has become the best platform to create and watch short videos.
The app is not limited to just editing, it also helps creators take notification control. The Live Insights dashboard tracks the performance of the video, showing details like skip rate and follower vs non-follower interactions.
