Nassau County Stadium is like Wankhede
Before this special occasion, ICC Event Head Chris Tetley said that this ground easily meets international standards. He said, ‘Whenever a new stadium is built, many questions arise regarding its size. But the field at Nassau County Stadium is not a small field, measuring 75 yards east-west and 67 yards north-south from center to center. It is equal to the size of Wankhede Stadium. The drainage facility here will also be world class.
ICC worked hard on this stadium
Till recently it was a simple park and ICC worked hard to get it ready as soon as possible. Apart from the field, there are also six practice pitches along with four main pitches and drop-in pitches that will be used for the tournament. The pitches have been prepared in Florida under the supervision of Adelaide Oval’s chief curator Damien Hough and brought to New York in trucks. Hoff, who is adept at making excellent pitches, says it was a big challenge but he is happy with things.
He said, ‘The pitches will have pace and bounce and the ball will come on the bat well, which the players like. Our aim is to create pitches that remain in good condition throughout the tournament and that players enjoy playing on.
How will the pitch of the stadium be?
The pitch of this stadium has been prepared in Florida under the supervision of Oval’s chief curator Damien Hough and from there this pitch has been brought to this stadium. Damien Hough said that the pitch will help the bowlers a lot. Besides, the ball will also hit the bat properly. 10 pitches have been installed in this ground. There are four main pitches. There are 6 pitches for practice.
