Legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev is convinced that Team India has finally found a fast bowler who is much better than the Haryana Hurricane after a historic World Cup victory in 1983 and 687 international wickets later. Legendary Indian all-rounder Kapil made a huge statement before Team India’s big match against Jos Buttler’s England at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, praising only Jasprit Bumrah.

Kapil, a legend of fast bowling, claimed that pacer Bumrah is “1000 times” better than he was in his prime. In the current edition of the International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament, Team India’s bowling attack is led by Bumrah. The Indian speedster has made an impressive comeback in T20 World Cup cricket, taking 11 wickets at an incredible economy of 4.08 in just 23 overs in the 2024 event.

Kapil Dev – a Fantastic Pacer Of His Time

One of, if not the best, former captain Kapil is arguably one of Team India’s greatest cricketers. In 1983, Kapil orchestrated India’s first World Cup victory. Kapil Dev took the most wickets and bid farewell to the longest format. The previous India captain outperformed Richard Hadlee’s record count of 431 Test wickets at that point. He is the only player to record 400 wickets and 5,000 runs. The commended cricketer was never run-out in his whole Test profession.

The Indian fast bowler has made 89 One-Day International (ODI) appearances for the two-time champions. Bumrah has played 68 matches for the 2007 world champions in the shortest format, taking 85 wickets. Kapil took 687 wickets for India across all formats in 356 matches. With 393 dismissals from 193 international matches, Bumrah trails India’s fourth-highest wicket taker.
