Pradeep Singh Kharola has been given extra charge as chief general of the Public Testing Organization (NTA). Due to controversy over exam irregularities, Subodh Kumar Singh, the previous NTA DG, has been removed from his position and placed on "compulsory wait" in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

The public authority has dropped the UGC-NET even as there are charges of paper spill in NEET-UG too and interest for its undoing. The government also announced on Friday that the CSIR-UGC NET would be postponed.
