A request to reschedule the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)'s Chartered Accountant (CA) exams, which fall right around the time of the Lok Sabha elections in several states, was turned down by the Supreme Court on Monday.
According to a bench headed by India's Chief Justice, Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud, any change to the exam schedule could significantly disrupt the extensive preparations that have already been made and could possibly harm other students.
"The booking of tests involves strategy choices. Regardless of considering the significance of the option to cast a ballot, the laid out plan maintains a strategic distance from political race dates, and any changes currently could seriously bias the more than 4 lakh understudies selected," said the seat, likewise involving judges JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra of Supreme Court.
In the end, the highest court agreed with the ICAI's arguments and stated that the current arrangements do not call for judicial intervention. The ICAI has exhibited a cautious equilibrium of the test plan with the constituent dates. This isn't a situation that requires our impedance," held the seat, excusing the allure against a judgment by the Delhi high court regarding this situation recently.
