Tata Nexon iCNG Dark Edition Launched, know its Features and Price

Tata Motors has launched the Dark Edition of the Nexon in its CNG variant, one of the company's best-selling cars. The Nexon CNG Dark Edition is based on the Creative+ and Fearless+ trims and has an all-black exterior and interior theme. This compact SUV comes with a turbo petrol engine. Hence, it is the first car in India to come with a turbo petrol engine and CNG combination. The company claims that the car can travel 24 kilometers on just one kilogram of CNG
The Dark Edition of Nexon was launched in March last year. At the same time, its CNG version was launched in September-2024. In the Nexon iCNG Dark Edition, the Creative + is priced at Rs 12.70 lakh, which is Rs 40,000 more than the regular CNG variant, while the top-spec Fearless + PS Dark trim of Nexon CNG is Rs 20,000 more expensive than the regular variant.
The Dark Edition of Tata Nexon iCNG has an all-black exterior with 16-inch black alloy wheels. The SUV gets 'DARK' badging on the side fender, while it also gets 'Nexon' badging in black colour.The Nexon iCNG Dark Edition features an all-black interior and leatherette seat upholstery. The 'Dark' branding is also visible on the headrests.
Nexon iCNG is similar to its regular petrol-diesel model. Its front has a new LED DRLs split headlamp setup. Below this, LED headlamps have been installed on the sporty bumper. The rear has a full connected LED tail light, which the company calls 'X Factor Tail Lamp'. It also has a welcome and goodbye function.
The cabin of the car has a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. Apart from this, the car has a touch panel HVAC unit on the dashboard and a new gear selector on the center console. Tata Nexon iCNG will get a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Its top variants have front ventilated seats.
There are no mechanical changes in the Tata Nexon iCNG Dark Edition. For performance, it has a 1.2 liter turbo-petrol CNG engine, which generates 100PS of power and 170Nm of torque. For transmission, it has been tuned with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The option of automatic transmission is not yet given with it. In the ICE powered version of Nexon, this engine generates 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque. With this, the choice of 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic transmission) and 6-speed AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox is available.
Apart from this, Nexon also has a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 115PS of power and 260Nm of torque, with which there is an option of 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT gearbox. Tata Nexon also comes in an electric version. With this, it has become the first car in the country, which comes in all four versions of petrol, diesel, CNG and electric.
In Nexon iCNG, Tata has provided a gas leak detection safety feature like other CNG models. In case of CNG leakage in the car, the leak detection technology automatically shifts the car from CNG to petrol mode. This technology also alerts the driver about the gas leak.
Apart from this, a micro switch has been provided to keep the car off while filling fuel. This switch turns off the ignition as soon as the fuel lid is opened. It does not allow the car to start until the fuel lid is securely closed. It also gives an alert of 'close fuel lid' on the instrument cluster.
The Nexon comes with features like 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, first category blind-view monitor, ESP, 6 airbags, hill-hold control, roll over mitigation, traction control, ISOFIX child anchor seat and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
The Tata Nexon is packed with many advanced features. Among these are Tata’s IRA 2.0 mobile-connected technology, a voice-assisted electric sunroof, a JBL 9-speaker sound system, a wireless charger, and wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the top-end variant of the car comes with a first-of-its-kind navigation display on the instrument cluster, cruise control, a height-adjustable driver seat, leather upholstery, and an electric panoramic sunroof that can be controlled via voice commands.
You will get to see twin cylinder technology in the boot of Nexon iCNG Dark Edition. This technology has a twin-cylinder tank setup (two cylinders of 30-30 liters) with a capacity of 60 liters. This gives Nexon iCNG a boot space of 321 liters, which is 61 liters less than the petrol and diesel variants.
